Engaging with the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District Board of Directors

The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD) values public input and provides multiple ways for members of the public to address the ACRD Board of Directors.

WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE

If you wish to write to the ACRD Board of Directors and have your letter included in the Board meeting agenda package (under the correspondence section), please:

  • Address your letter to the “ACRD Board of Directors”,
  • Provide your full name, and
  • Provide the street name of your residence.

Correspondence Submission Deadlines:

  • General correspondence must be received seven days in advance of the next Board meeting to be included on the ACRD Board meeting agenda.
  • Planning Application correspondence related to active planning applications have separate submission deadlines that are outlined in planning application advertisements and public notices.

Note: The ACRD does not accept unsigned correspondence.

APPEAR AS A DELEGATION

Individuals or organizations wishing to address the Board or Committee (excluding Commissions) on a matter within the ACRD’s jurisdiction may apply to appear as a delegation.

PUBLIC COMMENT AND QUESTION PERIOD

Public Comment Period (near start of meeting)

The public may comment on agenda items near the start of regular Board & Committee meetings (excluding Commissions).

Public Question Period (end of meeting)

The public may ask questions on agenda items or on matters discussed during the meeting at the end of regular Board & Committee meetings (excluding Commissions).

Format and Rules:

  • A total of 15 minutes is provided for each Comment & Question period
  • Each speaker will have up to three (3) minutes
  • Speakers must state:
    • State their name
    • Provide the street name of their residence
  • No presentations, handouts, or props are permitted.

Comment and Question periods shall not include items that are restricted, including:

  • Bylaws where a public hearing has been held, is not required, or must not be held;
  • Development Variance Permits or Temporary Use Permits (unless speaking at the Board meeting where the permit will be considered);
  • Ongoing legal proceedings;
  • Personnel matters; and
  • Publicly tendered contracts before they are awarded.
